All skaters are reminded that they skate at their own risk.
The following policies have being created for your safety and form our official Safe Skating Guidelines. Please ensure that you have read them before taking to the ice and listen to all instructions from our ice marshals or other event personnel.
We hold the right to refuse entry onto the ice to anyone not complying with these policies.

Do’s
- Do always listen to and obey the instructions given by our ice marshals or staff
- Do put your skates on in the skate changing area, using the seating provided
- Do bring your own skates if you have them
- Do keep away from the ice area when resurfacing is taking place
- Do skate in an anti-clockwise direction unless directed otherwise
- Do put litter in bins provided
- Do ensure your skates are fitted correctly
- Do wear suitable attire (warm socks, coat, hat, scarf, gloves, etc)
- Do try to keep noise to an acceptable level (i.e no screaming)
- Do report any accidents to a member of staff
Dont’s
- Do not smoke anywhere at the ice rink and do not litter
- Do not go on the ice without skates
- Do not wear “hoodies” with the hood up
- Do not take mobile phones, bags, cameras or similar devices onto the ice
- Do not eat, drink or chew on the ice
- Do not play tag or any other games on the ice
- Do not sit or climb on the rink barrier
- Do not skate across the middle of the ice or against the flow of other skaters
- Do not skate in “chains’ or “trains” which are three or more people holding each-other as they skate. Note: Two persons holding hands is allowed
- Do not chip, throw or spray the ice
- Do not carry children and infants
- Do not stand still or gather in groups whilst on the ice
- Don’t spin, jump or attempt acrobatic tricks, these aren’t allowed on the rink
Skater’s code of conduct and assumption of risk agreement
The management will not be responsible for any loss or injury incurred. Skaters and Spectators understand and agree to the following:
By engaging in skating, both skaters and spectators are deemed to have knowledge of, and assume the risk of skating which includes but is not limited to:
- Injuries that result from collision or contact with other skaters or other individuals who are on the skating surface
- Injuries that result from falls
- Injuries that involve objects or artificial structures that are within the properly intended path of travel of the skater
While all reasonable measures are in place to ensure your safety, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are aware of the safety information prior to entering the rink. It is your responsibility to bring to the attention of the Ice Marshal any event or act which may impact on your safety while skating
If you are new to skating or have young children it is best to take them during a time when the rink is less crowded. Please contact and we can recommend a suitable time to take your children.
Skaters and Spectators also agree to:
- Maintain reasonable control of his/her speed at all times
- Maintain a proper lookout to avoid other skaters, objects or conditions on the surface of the rink
- Accept responsibility for knowing the range of his/her abilities while on skates, and skate within the limits of that ability and as appropriate to the session on which he/she is skating
- Refrain from skating whilst under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other control impairing substances
- Leave the surface of the ice when resurfacing maintenance is taking place, when sessions end or as directed by staff
- Refrain from taking food and drink onto the rink surface
- Refrain from acting in a manner that may cause or contribute to injury of themselves or any other person
- Refrain from instigating or becoming involved in any type of altercations with any other skater or spectator and engaging in abusive, abrasive, disorderly conduct or other anti-social behaviour
- Not sit, climb or put feet on the barrier
Furthermore
- Anti-social behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated and those responsible will be asked to leave the rink with no refund given.
- Skaters asked to leave or removed from the Ice Rink area will not be refunded for their session fee if breaking this Code of Conduct.
- Any persons, who in the opinion of the Ice Marshals, represent a danger to themselves or others will be asked to leave the rink.
- Any persons whose behaviour may be deemed as likely to cause offence to others will be asked to leave the rink.
- When your session has ended you will be directed to the exit point by the Ice Marshal and Public Address system. Please exit the rink in an orderly manner.
- If your child is a young toddler they may not fully understand all of the rules and we also ask parents to keep extra close eye on your little one at all times.
- Always pay attention to the skaters around you and pay special attention to skaters ahead of you as they cannot see you coming.
- You are required to skate in an anti-clockwise direction, however on some occasions the staff may instruct all skaters to skate in a clockwise direction. Please ensure that you are skating in the correct direction at all times.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do you get to skate?
Each session is 45 minutes long and sessions start on the hour (2pm, 3pm, 4pm and so on). We recommend coming at least 20 minutes before the session time.
Do you have safety equipment?
Yes, we have helmets for anyone who wishes to use them, and we recommend wearing thick socks while using the skates.
Do you provide skating aids on the ice for inexperienced skaters?
Yes, we provide a number of fibre-glass weighted penguins on the ice that operate on a first-come, first-served basis. There are a limited number available so it is best to arrive at the venue in advance of your session to ensure availability of a penguin aid.
Are sessions supervised?
Ice Marshalls are present on the rink during all sessions and you are required to adhere to these safe skating guidelines. There will always be a medic available for all sessions.
Can the children skate on their own?
Children are classed as under the age of 12 they may skate on their own, but a parent or guardian must remain at the rink to supervise the children. Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult on the rink at all times.
Do I need special clothing?
Do wear gloves; bring them with you as they are not available at the venue. Bring a thick pair of socks, these will ensure that your feet are comfortable while skating. The use of helmets, knee pads and elbow pads is recommended. Trailing clothing is not permitted whilst skating.
Can I bring my camera?
A. The use of cameras, music players or any hand-held equipment is not permitted whilst skating.
Can I have a drink beforehand?
Persons who in the opinion of the Ice Marshalls have consumed alcohol or any other substance likely to impair their balance will not be allowed on the rink.
Are the Skating sessions recorded?
Sessions are recorded on CCTV.
Is there a qualified first aid person on site?
During all skating sessions a qualified person will be on duty to provide first aid.
What is the youngest age that can skate?
3 years old is our recommended lower age limit, however if they can walk and are stable on their feet, we have child friendly bobby skates which go over their shoes in addition to our penguin skating aids.
Can you book using vouchers codes?
You can not book in advance using vouchers (this is stated on the voucher and in the terms and conditions). You are required to go to the box office and hand in the printed voucher to be redeemed for a skating ticket for that day only. We have a limited number of living social slots for each session, so we recommend going to the box office early to book in your space for the session.
Are sessions supervised?

What size do the bobby skates (2 blades) go up to?
They go up to about size 3.
Can you wear normal shoes if you have special needs?
No, they have to wear skates or if they are in a wheelchair they can be pushed around.
Do you have to have your living social vouchers printed out?
Yes, vouchers must be printed out in order to be redeemed.
Is there somewhere to put bags, coats etc?
Yes we have a cloakroom.
Do you post out tickets if I book online?
No if you book online your tickets are sent to your e-mail address that you specified on your booking.
What do the colours mean on the ticket booking page (Ticketsolve)?
Blue = Reserved
Red = Paid
Green = Available
Do I have to book or can I just turn up?
You can turn up and you will probably get a ticket, however if you want to be guaranteed a particular time then we recommend that you book in advance.
What’s the maximum age for a Child Ticket?
Children’s tickets are for ages 12 and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult although the adult doesn’t have to skate!
If I have booked tickets and can\’t make it, what happens?
Our skating tickets are like cinema tickets, no exchange or refunds, if you cannot make it we suggest that you try and give your tickets to someone else.
Is it suitable for young children?
The Ice Rink and skates are suitable for children of about 3 years and upwards who can walk independently. We have a selection of twin blade bobby skates and helmets for small children but suggest you bring your own cycling helmet, gloves and other equipment if you can. For younger and less experienced children we recommend you bring them during a quieter session. Our customer service team can advise on this.
Do you provide skates and what is your largest size?
Skates are provided and included in the price. Our largest size is 14.
Are you insured if I fall and injure myself?
This event is fully insured. As this event is an Ice Rink, there is a strong likelihood that you may fall. Patrons are reminded that they skate at your own risk and that we cannot be responsible for injuries sustained as a result of ice skating.
Is there food available at the venue?
There will be light snacks and drinks available for purchase at the venue, and there is a wide variety of restaurants and cafes within the shopping centre complex itself.
Is there an admission fee if I’m not skating?
There is no charge for entry to the event.
Is there parking at the venue?
Parking is available in adjacent to the event. There is also street parking in the surrouding area.
What clothing should I wear?
You are advised to wear warm light clothing if possible. Do bring a change of socks just in case and be sure at wear gloves while skating.
Can I book by phone?
Yes, for larger groups (over 10) you can call us to make a booking or for more information.
